The Larimar - a Caribbean gemstone as eponym

The hotel’s name goes back to the rare and beautiful gemstone “Larimar” which is regarded as the blue jewel of the Caribbean. With its soft and gentle features it belongs to the most precious minerals in the world and is also known as Atlantis stone.

The Larimar is regarded as a “healing stone” enhancing emotional and physical recovery. With its volcanic origin, the Larimar was born from the earth and given its special appearance by hot water. The elements of cloudy skies and waves of the ocean relate this precious stone – as does our hotel – to the basic elements of the world – earth, fire, water and air.

The Larimar combines our mind and thoughts (element of air) with our heart and emotions (element of water), gathering them into a harmonious whole.
