Feel good with Ayurveda at the Hotel Larimar, Austria
Feel good with Ayurveda

Throughout the year, Ayurveda is one of the core treatment forms at the Larimar Spa & Health Resort in Stegersbach. But the absolute highlight comes during our Ayurveda Weeks, when Indian Ayurveda experts visit us at the Larimar and offer exclusive treatments for our guests. From March through April you have the opportunity to meet the Ayurveda specialists from India and benefit from their treatments and expertise.

Light Ayurvedic cuisine

During our Ayurveda Weeks, the Larimar kitchen team will prepare delicious Ayurvedic cuisine for you that make a significant contribution to your well-being. During a thorough consultation an Ayurveda doctor will identify your constitutional type, or “dosha,” and recommend suitable foods according to your type – this will in turn help you to balance your doshas. At the same time, the holistic Ayurvedic cuisine will regulate your digestion and weight in a gentle way.

Diet according to your type

According to Ayurvedic medicine, there exist three different constitutional types or doshas:

Vata types are prone to digestive problems. They should focus on cooked easily digestible food. Recommended flavours are salty, sour and sweet.

Pita types are endowed with a strong “digestive fire” and can easily digest cold as well as hot dishes. Recommended flavours are bitter, sweet and tart.

Kapha types should eat only moderately cooked and hot food in addition to plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Recommended flavours are spicy, bitter and tart.

General recommendations

Besides the specific food recommendations for each type there are some general rules according to Ayurvedic medicine which you should follow:

  • Only eat when you are hungry
  • Allow long enough breaks between meals
  • Avoid stress while eating and enjoy your meal consciously
  • Eat fresh, seasonal food
  • Drink warm water and herbal teas instead of cold drinks
  • Every meal should include the six Ayurvedic flavours (“Rasas”): sweet, sour, salty, spicy, tart and bitter.
