European Wine Knights
Recognised by the Order of Wine Knights
The Hotel Larimar was awarded one of the highest honours during the Gourmet and Wine Week in November 2011. The Larimar was the first hotel in Burgenland and the second in Austria to be presented with the coat of arms of the European Wine Knights.
A delegation of honourable members of the Order of the Wine Knights visited the Larimar to present hotelier and landlord Johann Haberl, himself a wine knight, with the special symbol as part of a celebratory ceremony. The coat of arms recognises the 4-star superior hotel’s exceptional wine culture, its comprehensive and exquisite selection of wines and the competence of the service team.
Former Austrian prima ballerina Karina Sarkissova was present at the award ceremony as a guest of honour. She has visited the Hotel Larimar for a relaxing break on many occasions and this time enjoyed some Ayurveda treatments by our Indian masters.
In vino veritas
In 1984, vinophiles from across Europe came together to form this network of friendship and peace. Ever since it was first founded at Esterhazy Castle in Eisenstadt, the European Wine Knights association has set itself the task of maintaining and preserving our shared wine heritage in Europe in all its variety.
The European Order of the Wine Knights, the Ordo Equestris vini Europae, now has over 25 orders of knights across Europe. The wine knights draw on the tradition of the Knights of the Order of St. George from 1468 and in addition to cultivating the European wine heritage, also stand for friendship and care, based on the motto of: “Friendship is the surest way to peace”.
Wine enthusiasts will find themselves in the right place at the Hotel Larimar. The hotel will pamper you in knightly style whether during the popular Gourmet and Wine Week or at any other time. To make your pleasure break in Stegersbach a reality, send a non-binding enquiry to the Larimar team! You will then receive a holiday offer back to suit your requirements!
