Alternative art of healing from the Far East at Hotel & Spa Larimar
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has already existed for 2,000 years and has been continuously further developed. The focus is on the teachings of the contrary natural forces Yin (inactive force) and Yang (active force). If these forces are in balance, the flow of “Qi” (vital force) is intact. Complaints arise of there is an imbalance. The holistic concept is expressed in the five pillars of TCM:
- Acupuncture, acupressure and moxibustion
- Medicinal therapy (therapy with medicinal plants)
- Qi Gong and Taiji
- Tuina massage
You will be additionally supported by TCM expert Dr Karin Grün, who performs diagnostics according to TCM as well as acupuncture treatments.
Qi Gong and Taiji
During your holiday you can take part in Qi Gong or Taiji. One thing all these Chinese exercise therapies have in common is that they can be performed at any age and do not entail any risk of injury. You will learn exercises which help you to reduce stress, to improve health and body control, and on which you can always fall back on. Various meditation and concentration exercises, among them also martial arts movements, will be practiced during Qi Gong, which is translated as “working on or with Qi”. In contrast, Taiji, which looks like shadow boxing.
Acupuncture, tuina and moxa therapies
During acupuncture and moxa therapies, energy points are stimulated either with needles or by means of local heating treatment in order to dissolve blockages in the meridians. Both TCM treatments have a demonstrable effect against pain. A tuina massage is particularly helpful with disorders of the musculoskeletal system as well as illnesses of the entire organism. Acupuncture points, meridians and localised pain points are treated by means of special hand movements. The Qi massages which harmonise the energy flow in the body and dissolve energy blockages are also a relief.
