Therefore, it is not quantity that counts here, but rather quality and uniqueness.

A large part of these wine specialities from the South Burgenland can be tasted in the hotel’s own vinotheque – here you can expierence wine enjoyment at the highest level!

The „Weinidylle" South Burgenland

The „Weinidylle" South Burgenland extends from Rechnitz in the north to the district Jennersdorf in the south. While in the north around Rechnitz  primary rock soil predominates, further south you will mainly find clay soils, some of which have a particularly high iron content. The main focus of the wine region lies on the historic Eisenberg as well as Deutsch Schützen. Spicy red wines with distinct mineral components are produced here, especially from the Blaufränkisch grape. The white grapes (Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder) are cultivated in the northern areas and in the south around Moschendorf. They are characterized by elegance, liveliness and their fruity character.

Pure and natural

The Uhudler has become a specialty, but what hardly anyone knows ist that it owes its existence to the grape vine louse.

The most traditional wine specialty from the South Burgenland is the Uhudler, which owes its existence the grape vine louse. When this vermin nearly destroyed the entire grape harvest at the end of the 19th beginning of the 20th century, they began to import more resistant grapes from America. These unrefined varieties were used as the basis for a special wine: the Uhudler was born.
It is a dry, acidic, purely natural wine. In its appearance pale red to light yellow, the aroma is reminiscent of wild berries or currant. The Uhudler grapes are also processed into other specialties like fruit juice, vinegars, fine jams, pralines, sausages and cheese as far as cosmetics.
